Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I’ve used an iPhone for about 4 years now, and over that time have picked up a few hints and tips from various sources about how to increase battery life, I don’t know the ins and outs of how they do this but know that when put in practice it seems to work.
1. Turn off bluetooth
Settings -> General -> Bluetooth -> Off
2. Turn off location services
Settings -> Location services -> Off
In here you can also choose which apps you allow to use your location (when it’s turned on), if you don’t think it needs to know where you are turn it off.
3. Turn off wifi
Settings -> Wifi -> Off
4. Turn off 3G
Settings -> General -> Network -> Enable 3G -> Off
5. Lower the display brightness
Settings -> Brightness -> slide to the left
As a rule of thumb I set mine to about 1/3 from the left during the day, and all the way to the left when in a dark room/night.
There you have it, my 5 tips for increasing your battery life. I still charge my iPhone every day but it’s only once rather than 2 or 3 like it used to be.
Here’s one more for you:
6. Use airplane mode
Settings -> Airplane mode -> On
I use this when listening to music if I’m not expecting a call on my mobile. Most people nowadays contact me via twitter or use iMessage which comes through on my iPad anyway.
Do you have any other techniques? Hit me up in the comments or on twitter @kollies to discuss further.
